The Old Cattle Market in Helston was ringing with “a repertoire of lively music” during a Christmas party held for the town’s senior citizens.
Saturday’s event was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard and was attended by 50 senior citizens from Porthleven and Mullion.
Tony Smart, from the rotary club, said: “It was really gratifying to see so many new faces.”
Music from Porthleven Band kept the crowd entertained whilst they enjoyed an afternoon tea provided by members of Helston and Lizard Inner Wheel, and sherry and soft drinks provided by the rotary members.
The afternoon ended with a special appearance from Father Christmas, who came to hand out gifts to the guests.
This was the first time the club had used the Old Cattle Market as a venue for its sponsored Christmas party and it turned out to be a great success, with the round tables giving the elderly a great opportunity to chat and be merry.
Special thanks for the success of the event have be expressed to the drivers of Age Concern who provided transport to the party from Porthleven and Mullion.
