A sea of shimmering stained glass created by some of Falmouth’s most vulnerable residents has won the town’s art gallery a top award.

The Celebrating Cornwall’s Stained Glass Heritage project was paid for through the Heritage Lottery Fund and saw people with learning disabilities, from FalCare’s day centre on Kimberley Park Road, working alongside children with special educational needs from the Nine Maidens School in Redruth.

They created two new stained glass windows for the art gallery inspired by Henri Matisse’s chapel in France, which have won the “highly commended” accolade at the Hudson’s Heritage Awards in London.
