Sweet-sounding students played their hearts out and raised their voices with Christmas cheer at Falmouth School last week.

The annual Christmas concert featured everything from bagpipes to trumpets and fiddles to flutes as 160 students from across the school and sixth form college performed songs from across the decades and genres.

Matt Fox, acting head of music, said brass bands, choirs and orchestras all contributed to “a night of stunning entertainment.”

Performances varied from a piano solo of the Chopin Minute Waltz by year nine student Angus Webster to a group of sixth form girls performing Adele’s recent hit Skyfall.

A new appearance this year came in the form of The Falmouth School Boys’ Choir who came together in October and made their debut performance to a full house in the Princess Pavilions last month.

At the Christmas Concert they sang Duke of Earl and You Raise Me Up with a solo performance by Zac Brewer from year ten.

The school brass group, led by brass team leader for Music Cornwall Gareth Churcher, also performed alongside singers.

Thanks were given to Charlotte Bone and Damian Lugg who provided the lighting, Friends of Falmouth School for the refreshments and Robyn Tyndale-Biscoe, Gareth Churcher and Sue Balkwill who gave up their time in support.
