Penryn parents and carers will be asked for their views next month on a proposed new primary school for the town.

A six-week public consultation process, set to be launched next Tuesday (January 8) aims to gauge opinion on the possible amalgamation of the town’s junior and infant schools.

Tentatively named Penryn Primary Academy, the new school would see the merger of both existing schools in order to offer children a “fully integrated curriculum.”

In a newsletter sent home to parents, Penryn Junior School’s headteacher Robin Cowen said: “the governors at both schools are very keen to hear your views about this exciting development.”

Full details of the amalgamation proposal will be posted on each school’s website later this month.
