Chimney fires have been keeping the emergency services busy this festive period, including one near Scorrier on Boxing Day.
One fire engine from Redruth was called to tackle a problem with a flue at Wheal Rose just before 8.30pm on Wednesday.
Firefighters, using a hand-powered stirrup pump and extendable rods, had the situation under control within 30 minutes.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents with open fire and wood burners to get their chimneys swept this winter, so as to avoid fires.
"The cost of a chimney sweep is very small - from around £30 - when compared to dealing with the damage and cost of repair from a fire," a spokesperson said.
