British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for help after a theft onboard a train at Redruth.

Officers have released CCTV images of a man they believe can assist their investigation into the incident on Sunday, November 25.

Detective Constable Dave Bailey, said: “The victim and his wife were travelling on the 1955hrs Liskeard-Penzance service on Sunday, 25 November 2012.

“The victim had placed his suitcase and coat on the luggage rack in the first carriage of the train. When the train was approaching Redruth station, the man’s wife noticed that the case was missing from the rack and was at the feet of a man standing by the train door.

“The victim challenged the man who claimed he had picked it up by mistake before handing it back.

“When they returned to their seats, the victim and his wife then noticed that his coat, which contained a mobile phone and car keys, was also missing from the luggage rack.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the person who stole the victim’s property.
