Falmouth Art Gallery reopens after refurbishment

Falmouth Art Gallery will reopen today following a £2,000 eco-friendly refit.

The gallery was awarded a grant by Arts Council England to install enhanced, low energy lighting in its shop area.

Part of the Arts Council’s Renaissance Strategic Funding for the South West, the new lighting aims to reduce energy consumption as well as create a more inviting shopping experience.

In order for work to take place, the gallery’s normal Christmas closure period was extended from Christmas Eve to 10am this Saturday.

Falmouth Art Gallery director Louise Connell said: “The team at the gallery has worked closely with the lighting designer to come up with an exciting new lighting scheme, and we are looking forward to seeing the results in the New Year.”

From Saturday it will be business as usual, including a chance to see the current “Hemy and friends” exhibition and take part in a free family drop-in workshop in the afternoon from 2pm to 3pm.

Falmouth Art Gallery is open Monday to Saturday 10am–5pm. Admission is free.
