Train operator First Great Western was forced to resort to taxis yesterday after a broken down train at Penryn brought the Maritime Line to a standstill.
The line, which runs from Falmouth to Truro, was out of action for almost three hours while engineers worked on the problem.
Local taxi firm A2B were drafted in to help ferry passengers around.
Services between Falmouth Docks and Truro were back up and running again by 8.10pm.
