Armed robbers held up a Falmouth newsagents at knifepoint this weekend before making off with hundreds of pounds from the till.

The police were called to Acacia News at 8.45pm on Saturday after reports of three men entering the shop and threatening staff with a knife.

One robber grabbed the contents of the till, which contained a sum of cash thought to be in the hundreds of pounds, before all three fled the shop.

Detective Sergeant Martin Roberts, from Falmouth CID, said the police were keen to hear from anyone who had witnessed “suspicious activity leading up to that time.”

He also appealed for people to come forward who had “heard anything since the incident.”

  • Two 23-year-old men, one from Falmouth and one from Penryn, have been charged with robbery and bailed until February 2 and March 21, respectively.
  • A 26-year-old Falmouth man has also been charged with robbery and recalled to prison.
