Penryn woman denies St Thomas Street arson

A 45-year-old Penryn woman has denied setting fire to a building in the town that could have endangered the lives of others.
Joanne Smetham, of Green Lane, pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court last Friday to a charge relating to July 8 last year.
She is alleged to have intentionally caused fire damage to a building in St Thomas Street or was reckless as to whether it would be damaged, and reckless as to whether the life of another would be endangered.
Smetham was remanded on bail to await a trial estimated to last for three days and expected to begin on August 27.
