The largest nightclub in Falmouth - formerly known as Remedies - is set to reopen under a new guise, bringing the promise of up to 40 new jobs.

Located on The Moor, the club, which attracted visitors from Helston and the surrounding area, closed its doors in November 2011. It has now been bought by Penswood Inns – the company that runs Truro’s Vanilla bar and nightclub.

Penswood managing director Graeme Scrimgeour has been in touch with Cornwall Council’s planning department with a view to getting permission to soundproof the building and relocate the gents’ toilets.

The listed building, which has operated as a nightclub for many years, is planned to trade under the new name Vanilla.

Capacity on site would be reduced from 650 people to 300 and the new club would only take up the first floor – the ground floor bar area is still on the market.
