Trebah Garden is to host an unusual exhibition combining poetry with photography from this Tuesday.
Lightlines: Poetry and Photography will feature the work of some of Cornwall’s leading poets with photography by students on University College Falmouth’s acclaimed BA in marine and natural history photography course.
All the work was created a Trebah Garden, near Mawnan Smith, on a single day last autumn.
The exhibition will run from Tuesday, February 12 until Wednesday, March 13.
Tom Scott, Trebah’s poet in residence and senior lecturer on Falmouth’s MA professional writing course, has created the show alongside Dr Margaret Upton, who teaches on the marine and natural history photography course at the university.
Tom said: “We haven’t asked photographers to illustrate poems or poets to respond to photographs. Instead, we all gathered at Trebah on a single day in late November, and particular areas of the garden were assigned to poets and photographers.
“The results are stunning; a version of Cornwall’s most beautiful garden transformed through the photographers’ visions and the poets’ imaginations.”
This is the fourth year that the photography students have shown their work at Trebah, but the first time that it has been seen alongside poetry.
