Land’s End Airport re-opened for the first time since before Christmas on Monday, but was closed again after only three flights had managed to take off for the Isles of Scilly.
Skybus flights to and from St Mary’s have been diverted to Newquay Airport since December 18 after the runway at Land’s End became waterlogged.
After the airport was re-opened on Monday, three scheduled Skybus flights and one freighter aircraft took off at reduced capacity before it was closed again.
A spokesperson for the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company said on Monday: “Due to the heavy rainfall over the weekend and again today the decision was taken to close the airport to avoid damage to the already soft and damp runway.
“Skybus will continue to operate flights to the Isles of Scilly via Newquay Cornwall Airport until and including Monday February 18.
"Skybus apologises for the inconvenience and all passengers are being notified.”
