The developers behind plans to bring a Premier Inn to Falmouth have appealed against the refusal of their proposals.
New Cornwall Developments Ltd have taken their case to the Planning Inspectorate in the hope Cornwall Council’s decision will be over-turned by a government inspector.
The council’s strategic planning committee rejected plans to build a 74 bedroom hotel on the site of Campbeltown Way car park in December. The application had been recommended for conditional approval by planning officers, but members voted by nine to six to refuse.
It was refused on the grounds that, due to the size, scale and massing of the building, its unacceptable impact on the occupiers of neighbouring Fisher Court would outweigh any benefits the scheme would bring to the town.
