They say that at the end of the rainbow lies buried treasure, and panto group the Keverne Kaudlers are aiming to prove just that.

They are planning some gold-standard performances for their production of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which takes place during half-term next week.

Based around the L Frank Baum classic children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the Kaudlers have once again given it their own local twist.

New director at the helm, Sue Farmer, said: “We wanted to make the show our own so there are a few deviations from the original story, but we think we’ve improved it!”

After a violent storm blows her and beloved Toto far away from Kansas, Dorothy sets out to find a way back home. Her travels take her to the Emerald City and along the way she meets some eccentric and surprising characters. Will Dorothy ever get back to her Auntie Em and will the Wicked Witch get her hands on the precious sapphire slippers?

Dorothy is played by Bethany Lyne, with Conor Clark as the Scarecrow, Jess Travis as the Tin Man and Lauren Flynn as the lion looking for c-c-c-c-courage. The part of Toto is played by a very energetic Ellie Gibbons.

The Good Fairy looking after Dorothy is Adele Kostrzewska, Uncle Henry is played by Tracy Pearce and Auntie Em is played by Janet Martin and Julia Parsons.

Over The Rainbow will be performed at St Keverne Parish Hall from Wednesday, February 20, to Saturday, February 23, at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £4 for all seats on the Wednesday, the remainder of the nights costing £6 for adults and £4 for children.

Tickets can be bought by calling 01326 280125 or at the St Keverne Square box office between 10am and noon this Saturday (February 16) and daily from Monday.
