Taste of life at big school for Marlborough pupils
3:20pm Saturday 16th February 2013 in News
Thirty children from year six at Marlborough School visited Falmouth School recently as part of their transition to secondary school.
Their first session involved a special scientific maths challenge with advanced skills teacher, Karen Pearce, when pupils had to think about disease and design an illness and explain how it is caught and what the symptoms would be.
The maths challenge was to work out how fast an epidemic such as measles could spread and how many people would be infected within an eight day period.
The second session was spent in the iMac suite with Nigel Musgrave, an English and media teacher at Falmouth School who taught the youngsters how to design and produce movie posters.
“The students have such amazing imagination and produced some wonderful work,” said Mr Musgrave. “This type of hands-on learning is fun and entertaining while building on existing skill and gaining some new ones.”
