A group of peace-minded dancers joined together for an “outdoor disco” in Penryn this week as part of global campaign to end violence against women and promote gender equality.
One Billion Rising was a one day event, which called for a billion women around the world to walk away from their homes, businesses and jobs and join together on Thursday, February 14 to dance in a show of collective strength.
The word “billion” refers to the estimated 1,000,000,000 women who are survivors of abuse globally, according to the campaign.
Belle Benfield, who is hosting the Penryn event, said the group gathered to have a good boogie in the courtyard at Jubilee Wharf.
