A volunteer at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall has been shortlisted for VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar 2013. And he needs your vote to secure the coveted prize.

Cornishman Colin Spargo is competing against staff from visitor attractions all over the country and is the only volunteer, and the only person from Cornwall, shortlisted.

Since joining the Museum in 2009, Colin has given over 350 hours a year of his own time, helping to welcome visitors to the Museum and share with them the stories of the county he loves.

Colin said: “The reason I give up my time for free is that I love sharing the wonderful maritime history of this beautiful county with visitors from all over the world. And it keeps me out of trouble! A vote for me is a vote for all the volunteers in Museums throughout the country and the fantastic work that they do.”

The award recognises the dedication and passion of those working in the tourism industry and is awarded to an individual who goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure visitors to England have a priceless experience.

To vote for Colin simply log on to visitengland.com/ee/Tourism-Superstar/ and follow the simple instructions. Everyone who votes will be entered into a prize draw to win a weekend break for two in Brighton, including dinner, attractions passes and tickets to a show. The voting will be open until March 8, and the winning tourism superstar will be announced during English Tourism Week 2013 (March 16-24).
