Firefighters called to Penzance house filling with smoke

Firefighters were called out to a house in Penzance on Wednesday after reports it was filling with smoke.

Two appliances with ten firefighters were mobilised to Laregan Hill, Penzance at 1.14pm.

A fire service spokesman said: "The property was evacuated and on crews arrival there was concerns that there was a fire in some wood joists where some workmen had been working.

"The fire in the roof of a bay window had been extinguished by the builders using a fire extinguisher.

"Fire crews used small tools to cut away at the joists and a thermal imaging to ensure that the fire was completely out."
