Plan for entertainment venue at Falmouth Wharves (From Falmouth Packet)

Plan for entertainment venue at Falmouth Wharves
9:00am Friday 22nd February 2013 in News
Plans to create a new entertainment venue at Falmouth Wharves have prompted objections from local residents.
Johnathan Burbridge has applied for a premises licence for Unit 15 at the wharves off North Parade. Rolling Sixes have acquired the ground floor lease of the building, previously home to a fish factory, and intends to use the space for exhibitions, and live entertainment, with alcohol sold until midnight, seven days a week.
In his application, Mr Burbridge said: “We do not intend to operate a nightclub and our intention for the venue would be to host events that only contain entertainment in which the audience universally accepts an earlier finish time.”
CCTV has been installed, a Challenge 25 policy will be implemented and registered SIA security staff will be employed.
Some neighbouring residents, have objected claiming it will cause late night disruption, noise, more litter, and more traffic than can be handled in a quiet neighbourhood One said: “Falmouth’s clubs and venues for live music are mostly confined to the town centre. This would represent a significant move away from this.”

t area due to the presence of marinas and other businesses, and it sounds like it will be responsibly run.
In Falmouth and probably many other places, a knee-jerk reaction prevails that involves objecting to anything new.
I'm sure in Stone Age times, cavemen would object to another caveman moving into the cave next door by going round and bashing them on the head with a club.
'Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose', as a very wise Frenchman once said.
