Walker airlifted after fall near Mawnan cliff

A walker who fell near cliffs at Mawnan this week had to be airlifted to safety.

Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team received reports of a man with a suspected broken knee near Mawnan Shear on Wednesday, February 13 at 2.55pm.

He had fallen from the cliff path and was in need of urgent medical attention.

After being “packaged” for what the coastguard call a “lift and shift,” he was carried over some “rather tricky terrain to the land site that we’d already established above Parson’s Beach,” a spokesman said.

The helicopter flew to Malpas as the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske was fog bound at the time.
