Falmouth kebab shop targeted by raiders

KEBAB house owners have been warned to be on their guard after tens of thousands of pounds worth of equipment was stolen in a raid in Falmouth.

Burglars struck the Falmouth Grill in Arwenack Street between 4am and 6.30am on Monday, February 18, clearing out almost £20,000 worth of equipment from the shop.

The thieves used what is believed to be a Renault Box or Luton van with a hydraulic tailgate – vehicles that are capable of carrying more than a ton.

Detective Sergeant Martin Roberts, from Falmouth CID, said the burglars were on site for more than two hours and several vehicles and passersby would have seen them.

“The offenders entered the shop through the front door and then proceeded to empty the place and load up the van,” he said.

“We are aware from watching the CCTV that that vehicle moved a number of times for other traffic to get passed, so I’m appealing to those other members of the public that were in Arwenack Street between four in the morning and 6.30am.”

Adding: “What we are looking for is a number plate.”

Anyone with any information about the crime can contact the police on 101 ref 332

It says "what we are looking for is a number plate" I assume they mean a registration number, because otherwise I would have thought it more useful to look for the whole van rather than just a number plate.

Who robs a kebab house?

Falmouth needs to get itself a better class of criminal.

£20,000 from a Tailors is the same as £20,000 from a Kebab shop.I wonder why the high number of CCTV town cameras did not record the registration plate. They are big enough cameras.

£20,000 worth of kebab shop equipment is not the same as £20,000 worth of whatever a tailor sells (suits presumably?)

I mean, that's a pretty hard market to sell to - who wants to buy a knock-off doner kebab machine?

Or a formica counter?

What does a kebab shop have that's worth £20,000 anyway?

An insurance policy maybe.

I expect the shop was losing money, so the owners have done a runner with the equipment, and I expect the equipment has been installed in another shop up country somewhere.

That was funny seeing the formica surfaces being taken.
Well it needs to be claimed if the store wants a new look.

Well if they trace the thieves the police could give them a grilling.

Above posters, £20000 wont be a great deal of equipment, having seen prices of catering equipment £20000 wont go far.
Something just doesnt add up, wouldnt such a premises have an intruder alarm, no mention of damage or forced entry neither.
