Falmouth Age Concern received a “substantial” donation from local solicitors’ firm, Hine Downing which has meant the charity can continue to help some of them most vulnerable members of the community through its Befriending Scheme.
The money came from the solicitors’ wills week when people were encouraged to make or amend their wills and instead of paying the usual fee, to make a donation to charity. Hine Downing’s help didn’t stop there, though.
Falmouth Age Concern badly needed a “facelift” and some new publicity material so the solicitors asked their local design team, Gendall Design, to come up with new branding. New leaflets, business cards, publicity postcards and a fresh new logo for the charity were created.
The Befriending Service sees volunteers visit isolated, elderly people once a week or so for a chat and perhaps a cup of tea. For some it is the only contact they have with the outside world.
Two years ago the charity began running clubs and courses including a film club.
