Youngsters from Mabe Primary School are looking forward to spending half a day at Stithians Lake after coming runners up in an art competition organised to mark the end of the Making Waves initiative.

Pupils from schools across the Falmouth and Penryn area had been invited to enter a piece of art work, drawing, image or collage based around the themes of watersports and Stithians Lake.

Seventeen year five pupils at Mabe and 18 year six children got involved with their entry which came in second overall. The winners were from Falmouth Primary School.

The five year Making Waves project was launched in 2007 aimed at developing watersports opportunities for young people in and around Falmouth and Penryn.
