Fire crews from three towns were sent to Falmouth Docks last night after a fire was reported on the RFA Argus, which is undergoing a multi-million pound refit at the yard.
Firefighters from Falmouth, Truro and Redruth were deployed and some wearing breathing apparatus entered the ship's engine room with a thermal image camera and an extinguisher. They were accompanied by a member of the ship's crew.
It was discovered that welding had caused a rag to catch fire, which was out by the time the firefighters located it. Crews checked the area thoroughly before leaving the ship.
