Pub chat leads to A&P crane windsock for fishermen

Following discussions between A&P Management and local fishermen and boat owners in Falmouth, often carried out in the Chain Locker, A&P Falmouth has fixed a windsock to its massive Bailey crane.

This operates between its Number 3 and Number 4 dock, and the windsock will assist local fishermen to gauge the wind direction and sea conditions before leaving the port.

The job of fitting the sock was not for the light-hearted, as the Bailey crane (No 28) stands some 45.5 metres above the ground.

The wind sock needed the skills of the Service and Ironyard departments and one of the yards mobile crane which itself has a reach of over 50m.
