A Penzance thief received a jail sentence this week after she was caught stealing supermarket flowers, a duck wrap and some makeup from Poundland.

Jodine Marie Harvey, who gave her address as the St Petroc’s Breadline centre, pleaded guilty to the thefts at Truro Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

She had stolen the flowers and flower stand and a duck wrap from Tesco and a sandwich from Costa Coffee in St Ives on December 27, the court heard.

Harvey then stole the five items of makeup from Poundland in Penzance on Monday (March 4).

Dr David Snoswell, chair of the magistrates, sentenced her to 12 weeks imprisonment suspended for 12 months because of her “prolific record”.

Harvey was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80 and undergo treatment for drug dependency.
