Young footballers from Helston, Falmouth and Penryn will be playing to a potential crowd of tens of thousands in the final of a national competition.
The West Cornwall Schools Under 13s team has reached the English Schools Football Association Inter Association Trophy final.
It is the first time any team from Cornwall has ever reached the final of the competition.
The league ground that will host the final has yet to be announced, but it is expected to take place in at least a 30,000-seater stadium.
Previous finals have been played at some of the major premiership grounds, including Newcastle United’s St James’s Park, which holds 52,000 people.
A total of 113 teams has taken part in the tournament, over seven rounds.
Many of the youngsters in the team West Cornwall beat are on the books of huge football league clubs in the midlands, including Birmingham City, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion.
To reach the final West Cornwall beat Aston, Erdington and Saltley 2-0 in the semi-final, which was held at Porthleven FC’s Gala Parc ground.
Finn Cross, a pupil at Penryn College, scored the second goal, with Jacob Trudgeon from Mounts Bay scoring the opener, which Finn Cross set up for him.
