Final preparations are underway for Duchy Ballet’s performance of Swan Lake at the Hall for Cornwall at the end of March.

Over 200 costumes, which include 40 swan and cygnet outfits, are almost ready for the full dress rehearsal ahead of the dance company’s four performances in Truro on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23.

It will feature 100 children from across Cornwall, who began rehearsing before Christmas.

Artistic director, Kay Jones said: “The preparation is going really well and everyone is very excited about the performances. The dancers who have worked so hard in rehearsals are now looking forward to the arrival of our principal dancers.

“The team behind the scenes has done an incredible job with the costumes, lighting and set. As well as the 40 swan and cygnet costumes, there are new designs for the big waltz in Act 1, all lovingly created and which will be a feast for the eye on the stage.

“Someone asked me how much material, cotton and sequins we’d used. We’re unable to give a definitive answer, but all we know is it’s a lot.

“The dancers have also used hundreds of plasters on their toes as well!”
