A Helston care worker stopped and breathalysed while in Porthleven was shocked when he was told he was over the limit, a court has heard.
Paul Pitt, aged 53, of Main Road, Ashton, pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates’ Court to drink driving at Porthleven on February 9.
Alison May, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said police officers stopped his car in a stop check in Porthleven just before midnight and smelt alcohol in the vehicle.
He failed their roadside breath test and later tested at 59 mcg, 24 points over the limit. He had no previous convictions.
David Harvey, his solicitor, said he was very remorseful and embarrassed by what had happened and had had no idea he was over the limit.
Pitt was fined £300 and £115 costs and surcharge and banned from driving for a year.
