Fresh calls were made this week for something to be done about Falmouth and Penryn’s rat problem.

Last year, the Packet brought you reports of rats “on the rise” - with one town councillor blaming the increase in vermin on the higher cost of pest control and improperly stored rubbish.

Now, one Falmouth resident is challenging others to come up with fresh ideas on “how we can solve the rat problem.”

Lorna Allen has created a page on the Cornwall Council affiliated “Shaped.By.Us” website, which aims to source ideas on how to help improve neighbourhoods and solve problems faced by Cornish communities.

“My neighbours have had rats in their house,” she said, “feeding ducks at Swanpool is no longer so much fun for my children and I saw a dead one on the road the other day.”
