A new support service is launching in Cornwall for people experiencing the loss of a much loved pet.
The community interest company, ALLY®, is looking for people who would like to join its team.
The service will be delivered by a team of supporters, and staff or volunteers at community health or social agencies, veterinary practices, animal establishments or individuals are being asked to sign up.
Founder Ali Samuels, said the loss of a beloved pet can be "devastating" and the consequences can affect health and wellbeing.
"Our aim is to support people at this difficult time," said Ali. “By providing this much needed service, and creating a unique alliance between these groups and agencies."
DuchyVets in Redruth, Hayle and Penryn, and Mounts Bay Veterinary Practice in Penzance are already piloting the scheme.
Sarah Wyatt, Veterinary Nurse and Director of Duchy Vets in Redruth, Hayle and Penryn said: “Our clients and their pets are like members of our family and the loss of a pet effects people deeply. It is such a difficult time and important for us that we are always here for our clients.
The brand new accredited course could be paid for via a successful application to the Big Lottery Awards for All Grant.
The first course will commence on Thursdays throughout May and June 2013 with a second course in Sept and Oct 2013.
