Hoax shop fire call wastes firefighters' time in Camborne

First published in News

Police are investigating after a hoax shop fire call wasted firefighters' time in Camborne.

One fire appliance from Camborne Fire Station was called out to a report of a bin fire outside a shop on Trelowarren Street, just before midnight on Saturday.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "When location given, it was obvious that the call was a hoax. Whilst the fire crew were attending this call they were not available to answer any genuine calls to help people in distress. Potentially, this would have put people in the area at greater risk."

If anyone has information about who made the call, contact Devon & Cornwall Police on 101, quoting log number 897 of 16/03/2013.
