A firefighter from Penzance has been honoured for his work on ‘Wheels of Fire’.
This is a skateboarding, BMX and scooter competition run annually by firefighter Ollie Clark from Penzance Community Fire Station, alongside the Treneere ‘All Together Now’ festival.
The event makes it possible for firefighters to spend time with the local community and give fire and road safety advice during a fun and informal atmosphere.
Although Ollie was unable to attend the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service annual awards ceremony, at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, his work was recognised.
Around 30 staff were presented with awards during the ceremony, which highlighted their achievements and those of members of the public.
Councillor Jim Currie, leader of Cornwall Council, said: “We should all be proud of our fire service. The annual awards ceremony gives us an opportunity to thank those who have worked so hard to keep residents and visitors to Cornwall safe.”
