Helford's iconic Shipwrights pub ready to reopen

An iconic Helford pub will reopen its doors next week following four months of extensive renovations.

The 300-year-old Shipwrights Arms perches on the edge of the Helford River and retains its original terraces for outside dining right beside the water, but can now also boast a conservatory and two new dining rooms for when the weather is a little less clement.

Landlords Vicky and David “Hairy” Harford said they were delighted with the transformation and are looking forward to welcoming their customers back.

“Everyone has worked so hard, there has been a huge team working all winter to get the pub ready in time,” said David.

“It's been a very exciting project and almost unbelievable to think the place was facing dereliction just a year ago.

“We hope lots of people will come and visit, and that the village will come alive again.”

The Shipwrights Arms opening party will be held next Thursday (March 28) from 6pm, with Falmouth-based Soul Sensations playing from 7pm.
