Organisers of this year’s Walk of Witness through Helston hope that 200 people will take part.

Previous years have seen more than 100 walking through the streets on Easter Saturday and the aim is to double this number.

The event is organised annually by Churches Together in Helston and Wendron, to celebrate the most important date on the Christian calendar.

Those taking part will meet at 9.45am in the Trengrouse Way car park, next to the Co-Op, where hymns will be sung and prayers said.

Then, led by members of Helston Town Band, they will walk down Horse & Jockey Lane, across the zebra crossing and down the pavement to the Methodist church, where there will be another short time of song and prayer. Refreshments, including hot cross buns, will then be served.

It is hoped that Bishop Tim Thornton, Bishop of Truro and Rev Steve Wild, Methodist District Chairman, who will be especially in Helston for Mission Week, will join the walk that morning.

All ages are welcome and those wanting to take part are encouraged to take along a friend.
