A firefighter from St Keverne has been recognised for his dedicated work protecting the parish and the wider area.

Watch manager Kevin Basher, of St Keverne Community Fire Station, was among a number of firefighters in the county receiving the Fire Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.

This is awarded by the Queen to honour those who have given long and praiseworthy service.

Those presented with the award will have worked as wholetime or on call firefighters for at least 20 years.

They were given their awards by the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Colonel Edward Bolitho, at the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service annual awards ceremony held at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth.

This also saw around 30 fire service staff honoured for special achievements over the past year, together with those of members of the public.
