Strong winds fanned the flames at a one hectare gorse fire near Goonhilly yesterday.
Fire crews from St Keverne were scrambled to the scene of the fire, in the Traboe area, at approximately 7.20pm.
On arrival, firefighters found almost two and a half acrews of the high gorse well alight but used a hose in combination with beaters to extingush the flames.
Ian Oliver, from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Arson was suspected. Devon & Cornwall Police have been informed."
