Handy volunteers that know their way around a paintbrush were busy getting Newquay's benches ready for the summer recently.
Up to 27 volunteers made up of staff from the Towan Blistra Wetherspoons, Barclays Bank, North Shore Surf Shop - as well as residents and councillors - made short work of the 52 benches that needed rubbing down and repainting over four days at the end of March.
The group was split into teams that worked in a number of locations around the town and completed more than double the expected amount of benches.
Jenni Pagett, Cornwall Council community network support officer for the area, said: "It’s fantastic to see so many people who care about Newquay and are prepared to muck in to make it look better.
"A really big thanks to all those who volunteered and helped to make the project a success.
"I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the volunteers and hope to be able to repeat the project again before the main summer season."
The paint and preparation materials were donated by CORMAC and Newquay Town Council purchased health and safety equipment for each volunteer.
