Four Penryn sisters celebrated more than two centuries of marriage at a joint celebration held in the town recently.

Shirley and Fred Daniels, who have been married for 55 years, Veronica and Kenny Matthews, who have been married for 52 years and Janet and Dougy Willey, who have been married for 43 years, joined Jennifer and Pat Verran at their Golden Wedding anniversary party in the Boslowick last Saturday.

Jenny said she was not sure what the secret was to a long, happy marriage - although it does take a little bit of “give and take.”

“I think you have got to really love somebody to stay with them that long,” she said.

“I can't believe it myself to be honest!”

The “unbelievable” 200 years of marriage shared by the four sisters was a “marvellous” achievement, Jenny said.

“It just does not seem that long to be honest, I can't believe it - I think somebody's got the date wrong,” she said.

“It must run in the family though, because we have all stayed with the same person.”

After their family party at The Boslowick Inn, Jenny and Pat continued their celebrations by going away on holiday to Tennessee.
