A young couple from the Lizard Peninsula have seen their “dream come true” after being named THE winners of the Packet’s Win Your Wedding competition 2013.

Daniel Moore and Susan Stephens, both 27, were among the 40 anxious couples at the Falmouth Hotel’s wedding fair on Sunday.

After more than two months of voting it was the moment of truth – and there were cheers of delight when Daniel and Susan realised they were to be ones receiving the dream wedding package.

This includes a wedding ceremony, reception and evening party at the Grade II Listed Falmouth Hotel, the main sponsor for the competition for the second year running.

It has also been supported by a number of other local businesses who offer expert wedding services, meaning the lucky winning bride and groom will have access to suits and dresses, flowers, cake and cars through to the all-important rings, a professional photographer, hair and make-up stylist, and someone to record the service on video.

Chair covers, invitations and the evening entertainment will also be taken care of, as well as hen and stag dos.

For the winning couple, who live at Zoar near St Keverne in a static caravan as they save for a mortgage, it was time to celebrate with family and friends over a bottle of champagne. Daniel described it as “a life changer,” while Susan said: “Things like this never happen to use – we never win anything. We were really hopeful but we just didn’t know what was going to happen on the day. We’re really excited.”

She added that they had “campaigned hard” and had received a lot of help from the community they live in.

Susan, who works with Daniel’s sister Belinda Taylor at The Beauty Retreat in Helston, grew up in the Ruan Minor and Cadgwith area, while Daniel, who is a self-employed builder, is the son of Robert and Karen Moore and grandson of Dougie and Margie Moore, who own Zoar Garages near St Keverne, with a tyre centre in Helston.

They met while at Mullion School but did not become a couple until seven years ago, when Daniel was in a band and Susan used to watch.

She said: “A big thank you to everybody – friends and family, work colleagues, clients, people from the village; literally everybody that supported us. A huge thank you to the Packet, the hotel and all the sponsors – we really are truly grateful. It’s made a dream come true for us.”
