Penzance woman's £3,000 benefit fraud

First published in News

A woman from Penzance has received a 12 months conditional discharge in respect of a housing benefit and council tax benefit fraud totalling £3,090.39.

June Osmand (51) of Mounts Bay Road, Penzance pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to promptly report to Cornwall Council that she was in receipt of increased earnings at Truro Magistrates Court on Friday 12 April 2013.

As well as receiving the 12 months conditional discharge, Miss Osmand was also ordered to pay £50 towards the council’s investigation and legal costs. The council is recovering the overpaid benefits from Miss Osmand separately from this court action.

Cornwall Council operates a confidential fraud hotline on freephone 0800 7316125.
