Falmouth Marine School is offering free taster sessions in marine engineering, boatbuilding, watersports and marine biology over the next few weeks.
There will be 14 different sessions, all providing an introduction into courses available at the college. The sessions run through until the end of May.
In boatbuilding, a two day course at the college’s workshops at Ponsharden will enable potential students to build and launch a one-man ply-wood boat.
In marine engineering, participants will receive an introduction into marine engines in the newly refurbished engineering workshop and learn about boat-handling on a trip around the harbour in one of the Marine School boats.
The marine biology curriculum area is offering several full day and half sessions that include snorkelling surveys, beach cleaning and sculpture, coastal and rocky shore surveys and CSI marine biology, where those taking part will investigate what happened to a marine animal and get friendly with sharks and venomous fish.
Several full and half day sessions are available with the watersports department in sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, stand up paddleboarding and life-saving.
Falmouth Marine School will provide the kit needed and the experts to deliver the sessions – all you have to do is book your free place. To do this go to www.falmouthmarineschool.ac.uk or call 01326 310310.
