Two charities that work to improve the lives of Helston residents have been given grants by the town’s mayor.
Jonathan Radford-Gaby presented the Mustard Seed and Helston Age Concern with a cheque for £1,000 each.
He said the money had been raised through the mayor’s ball, together with “the generosity of many members of various organisations and members of the public.”
“We did raise a significant amount of money,” he added.
Mr Radford-Gaby said the donations would go towards the Mustard Seed’s property in town for adults with special needs and Helston’s Age Concern’s ongoing fundraising to maintain its existing minibus and ultimately buy a new one.
Nick Martin, from Helston Age Concern, said the bus was used by more than the elderly in the town.
“Thank you very much for that generous donation,” he added.
David Williams, from the Mustard Seed, said the donation made “a huge difference” to adults with disabilities in the town.
