Singers from around the world will be heading to Helston and Porthleven next week as part of the Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival.

More than 60 choirs of all ages and nationalities will be taking part in 50 concerts and celebrations at 40 venues across the county as part of five song-filled days of the festival.

Helston and Porthleven will be hosting regional gala concerts featuring travellers from as far afield as Australia, Russia and Lithuania who will be joining singers from across the UK and Cornwall itself.

The concert at Porthleven Chapel will take place at 7.30pm next Thursday (May 2) and will feature performances from St Keverne Youth Band, Basingstoke, Synergy and Dagilelis from Lithuania.

The event at Helston Methodist Church next Sunday at 7.30pm will feature St Stythians Band, Buccas Four, Synergy and Euga from Finland.

“We aim to spread the joy of this wonderful event right across Cornwall,” said festival chairman, David Peters.

“The Lizard area has many beautiful settings for some world-class singing and we hope people will flock to the concerts to show their appreciation |for so much homegrown and international talent.”

St Keverne Youth Band will also be playing a star role in the finale gala concert at the |Hall For Cornwall in Truro on May 6.
