Fizzes, whizzes and bangs were the order of the day at Constantine Primary School’s Science Day, when pupils explored the world of the weird with a raft of exciting experiments.

Organised by assistant head Cags Gilbert in partnership with the Science Department at Penryn College, the event offered children a chance to make rockets, build spaghetti towers, test paper aeroplanes and see crazy chemical reactions.

“Science Day was brilliant,” said Mrs Gilbert, “All the staff prepared investigations and the whole school took part.

“The whole idea of running Science Day each year is to promote the subject and enjoy finding out and learning through experimenting, but most of all to have fun.”

Joe Ludlow from Penryn College was joined by eight of the secondary school’s science club pupils in bringing the demonstrations and experiments to Constantine.

“They joined in all morning, supported our teachers and gave an amazing demonstration in the afternoon,” Mrs Gilbert said.
