With Flora Day just days away primary pupils have been creating a giant banner to help celebrate the day in style this year.
Youngsters from Parc Eglos, St Michael’s and Nansloe primaries, together with their parents, gathered to paint different segments that will eventually be joined together.
Parc Eglos was a frenzy of activity last week when all the schools joined to paint, stick and colour the panels.
Once completed, all the panels will be put together at Helston Bowling Green, where the plan is to display the banner on Flora Day.
The bowling green is one of the most picturesque settings during the various dances, including the children’s dance.
After May 8 the hope is that the banner can then be hung in Helston Folk Museum.
The project was funded by Cornwall Councillor Judith Haycock through money from her community chest fund.
Helping with it have been Parc Eglos deputy head Louise Jones, workshop co-ordinators Emma Gritiths and Lesley Cower, and school art teacher Mrs K Sarila.
