A person had had to be cut from a car after it overturned on the A390 at Grampound.

Police and other emergency services were called to the crash at around 1.20pm.

One car, a silver Peugeot, was involved. An ambulance crew was called to the scene, alongside fire and police officers. There are no details on injuries at this time.

The road into Grampound was closed, as was the turning towards Mevagissey.

The car has now been removed and traffic is returning to normal.

A fire service spokesman said that two fire appliances from St Austell and a rescue tender from Bodmin attended a road traffic collision with a person trapped.

Fire crews used crash rescue equipment to release the casualty by 2pm.

A street light was damaged with wires exposed and electrical engineers and Cornwall Council Highways staff were called to make it safe.
