A merchant seaman had no excuses when the police caught him drink driving through Penryn at 2am.
He was spotted because of the flat tyre on his car, his solicitor Paul Simons told Truro magistrates.
Before the court was Christopher Brason, aged 23, of Treliever Road, Mabe Burnthouse, who pleaded guilty to drink driving on May 5.
Alison May, for the CPS, said he had registered 87 mcg, more than twice the legal limit.
Mr Simons said Brason had been to a festival at the weekend, intending to camp there and not drive. Then he saw people messing around with the cars, causing damage, and fearing for his mother’s vehicle he decided to take it out of the way.
A member of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Brason was fined £280 and £124 costs and surcharge and banned from driving for 20 months.
