Many hands made light the work of clearing the scrub land behind a Penryn church hall last week, ready for vegetables and edibles to be planted.
The event, on Wednesday evening, was part of the “Incredible Edible Penryn” project that aims to encourage town residents to grow their own produce.
Land behind St Gluvias Hall is being worked over by volunteers with the Olive Branch organisation, which runs a weekly community cafe and hosts an information stall at the town’s Friday market.
Volunteer Pip Carlton-Barnes said: “The garden is really taking shape. It has been so great to meet so many wonderful Penryn people giving up their time to muck in.”
Once the garden is producing, the team at Olive Branch will link-up with the Incredible Edible Penryn Project to help share recipes and cooking skills with those interested.
